Invest time in Detangling

Tara Holmes | Hello Twirl | Dainty Jewelry | Mishawaka, IN | Cultivating Friendships When a dear friend suggested she introduce me to Honey earlier this summer, I was intrigued. I had heard her name before; I had seen her booth set up at an event or two, but I’d never stopped in to see what she was all about. I’ve never been too into jewelry, and tend to wear the same pieces all the time. It wasn’t until after Tara’s friendly nudge that I realized the local artisan was someone I wanted—dare I say needed? –to know. Around the same time, I had written a blog post about adding...

She Believed She Could… So She Did

Sarah Stump | Lifestyle Blogger | She believed she could… so she did | Imperfectly Perfect All parents dream of the perfect baby that has 10 fingers and 10 toes. But, this baby only had five fingers and half a left arm. Her mom said, “How will she tie her shoes? Where will she wear her wedding ring?” Her dad said, “Don’t worry, God has a plan.”This little girl grew up in a small town. Her parents taught her to never give up, to always have faith, to always try your best, but most importantly to always be yourself. They taught her that God had made her with His own...

Fourth of July Refresh and Reflect

Spending a week at a resort campground has allowed us sometime to refresh and reflect. Enjoy as I share below my thoughts and tidbits of our week away from the daily grind. Each time we plan a glamping/camping trip I find myself falling more and more in love with the thought of living the simple life. Trust me I love material things but I’m finding it very appealing to love just a few. I’m not exactly sure what brought me to this pivotal point in my life. Maybe it’s because my husbands production line was closing at work and moving to Mexico and he would be without a job in...

Packing Light: My Travel Staples

Being on the road as a nomad means much of my life is lived out of suitcases. But that doesn’t mean that my outfits have to be boring! Here are my insider secrets to a perfectly managed suitcase. COLOR SCHEMES / CLOTHES When packing my suitcase, I always follow the same color scheme – black, grey, nude, white, olive green. If you’ve seen me out and about this year, these are pretty much the only colors I wear. My essentials include casual dress pants, leggings, and an assortment of tank tops and shell tops. I’m consistently warm, so I pack primarily sleeveless tops and then a sweater or jacket that...

The Warrior Anchored In

The Warrior Anchored In | Dainty Jewelry | Mishawaka, IN | Elizabeth Carris | Bold As Love | Honey Shea Studios Images captured by Honey Shea Studios My mind is a mess of tangled and twisted webs full of medical knowledge and repeated sadness hosted by the killer that lives inside my son, all three of them. It’s a circus where the clowns aren’t happy and the ringmaster is desperately seeking something tangible and delectable but by the unfortunate design of life’s cruelty, it’s only attainable in moments. But it is in those moments where I shine. Reality is a nest of beautiful distractions used daily to get by. John Lennon said “whatever gets...

Delectable Charm

Delectable Charm | Dainty Jewelry | Mishawaka, IN | Elizabeth Carris | Honey Shea Studios Sterling Silver Skull necklace shown above (linked) Soft and dangerous at the same time is how she wanted to express herself. Gentle and hard together simultaneously twisted with just a touch of daring exquisiteness. So she searched her jewelry box and saw the silver skull staring back at her. It was on a black chain with silvered balled sections to give it that edgy vibe. The size made it simple yet elegant and noticeable, while the length made it sleek, just hitting beneath the collar bone. The skull lay deliciously against her pale skin. Untouched by the...

Life in the Hive

Life in the Hive | Gold Hexagon Lariat Necklace | Dainty Jewelry, Mishawaka, IN | Tara Barletto | Honey Shea Studios In a world where we see everyone’s highlights, other people’s gifts can look more attractive than ours; we find ourselves comparing, measuring ourselves against who or what we think people are, piecing them (and ourselves, honestly) together whichever way makes most sense to us, leaving it easy to lose sight of the roles we play, and the purpose for which we have been created. On and off for four years now, my husband Vince has kept bees. What intrigues me about bees is that they all have different roles...

How to clean sterling silver

Are your sterling silver pieces looking dull? Tarnish is a fact of life my friends. Luckily, it’s very easy to take care of. Here are a few quick and easy tips to help bring your pieces back to their shiny original state. Tip 1 Run to Target and pick up this liquid cleaner for sterling silver jewelry. It’s what I buy, it costs about $5 and is very easy to use. Make sure you DON’T soak your jewelry. Instead, quickly dip your jewelry into the cleaner and immediately rinse with water. Then tap a few drops of liquid dish soap (not dishwasher soap) onto your fingers. Rub the soap onto the piece of jewelry...
