5 tips for tidying your closet

Over the Christmas holiday break I had this idea of how cool it would be to live the simple life. What do I mean by that exactly? Well, I found myself thinking about those who are living in the NEW TREND of “tiny houses.” I even asked my family; what do you gift someone that lives the simple minimalistic lifestyle? We found ourselves lost for an answer. Maybe a grocery store gift card, or a dinner out for two. What would you do? Which got me thinking. What would I keep? What would I get rid of? How can I tidy up my closet for that simple life?

1. Keep it simple
Every season select those classic staple pieces and keep trends to a minimum

2. Less is enough
If you’ve never heard of a capsule wardrobe google it now
3. Narrow down your key elements that represent you
Vibrant. Bold. Elegant. Classy. Basic. Moody. Flashy. Minimalistic.
4. List those unwanted/unused items on a shop your closet site
Almost every city has a Facebook selling group or if you’ve never tried it poshmark is another option
5. Donate
They say if you haven’t worn it in a year donate it

More about Honey Shea

“Is your name really Honey?” I get this question all the time. Yes it is! My first name is Honey and my middle name is Shea. I am a self-taught solopreneur and jewelry maker. I live in Northern Indiana with my husband, daughter and my cat, Smallville, where I enjoy glamping (when the weather’s good) and the occasional donut. I’ve been a creative since I was a little. Before I started this business, I was an Orthodontic Assistant for 12 years – I still take great pride in my wire bending skills. My husband came up with the name Honey Shea Studios while he was deployed to Kuwait. We both liked the Bible reference and that it’s easy to remember. In life and business, I like to keep things simple and sweet. I’m drawn to minimalist design and understated symbolism. I love making elegant, thoughtful jewelry that will have meaning for the wearer. I’d love to get to know you! Feel free to leave comments.
