Fourth of July Refresh and Reflect

Spending a week at a resort campground has allowed us sometime to refresh and reflect. Enjoy as I share below my thoughts and tidbits of our week away from the daily grind.

Each time we plan a glamping/camping trip I find myself falling more and more in love with the thought of living the simple life. Trust me I love material things but I’m finding it very appealing to love just a few. I’m not exactly sure what brought me to this pivotal point in my life. Maybe it’s because my husbands production line was closing at work and moving to Mexico and he would be without a job in 2yrs. Yep, you read that right! Moving production to Mexico! When I got the call from my husband it just so happened to be a Friday set up day at Madison Road Artisan Market. For most, that would have been devastating news. But for us it wasn’t. Lucky for us my smart engineering husband created a simple cash budget for us about 5yrs ago. That will have us just where we want to be when his job ends. He will also be retired from the Air force after twenty some years too. Everything just seems to be falling into place, setting us up for our next journey, the next chapter of our lives. After sharing these thoughts it’s clear to me now why I’m thinking what’s next, how do I want to spend the rest of my years here on earth? Yes, the simple life sounds very appealing. I love to be creative. It’s in my DNA it’s my true passion. When I close my eyes I can see so much creativity coming from that simple lifestyle that I’ve been talking so much about. I recently talked about it (here) back in December.

Trader Joe’s is just one of the many amenities that we get to enjoy while glamping/camping. As shown above I’ve shared just a few of my favorite things that I picked up. I’m typically known for being called Sugar Shea or Sweet Tooth Sally, but this trip I decided to take it easy on the gut and grab a few healthier options. Honestly friends, I really need to clean up my act in the sweets department, and that I will.

As I stated before, I love to be creative and photography has offered me endless opportunities to explore what I can do with a DSLR. They say if you love something you’ll work 24/7 to figure it out, I’m totally falling in love with photography and if there was an 8th day to the week I’d use that up too! I’m incredibly thankful for a handful of friends who through their encouraging words drive me to keep at it daily. For example the picture above with the sparklers. I was determined to capture my husband swirling a heart shape in manual mode right before Ranger Dan tells us NO Sparklers are allowed. So disappointing but I got the picture!

Can you believe it’s July already?!? As I pull out my new planner that I’m so excited to start using from InkWell Press {linked}. I purchased this one from our local office depot.

Glamping/Camping was not all fun and games, I spent some time alone mapping out my thoughts for the remainder of the year and what next year will look like. All I can say is that i’m excited for what the future has to hold but i’m hopeful that it’s the simple life.

xo, Honey

More about Honey Shea

“Is your name really Honey?” I get this question all the time. Yes it is! My first name is Honey and my middle name is Shea. I am a self-taught solopreneur and jewelry maker. I live in Northern Indiana with my husband, daughter and my cat, Smallville, where I enjoy glamping (when the weather’s good) and the occasional donut. I’ve been a creative since I was a little. Before I started this business, I was an Orthodontic Assistant for 12 years – I still take great pride in my wire bending skills. My husband came up with the name Honey Shea Studios while he was deployed to Kuwait. We both liked the Bible reference and that it’s easy to remember. In life and business, I like to keep things simple and sweet. I’m drawn to minimalist design and understated symbolism. I love making elegant, thoughtful jewelry that will have meaning for the wearer. I’d love to get to know you! Feel free to leave comments.
